Find me on:

Living on one’s own can be challenging for new university students, especially international students who came to Japan across the oceans. Our dormitories, as a living setup, has many advantages, including short commute time to classes, and easy access to other on-campus facilities such as libraries and gyms. Global Studies Major student, Apra Jain (India), was happy to shed light on her housing choice, and share some of her Instagram-worthy moments of being a student at Ritsumeikan University.

Post by International Admissions Office in collaboration with an International Student Ambassador.

Hello world, this is Apra.

Living in the dorm for 2 years has been the best part of my life at Ritsumeikan.

It's amazing how you would instantly become a member of a family of various nationalities, ethnicities, languages, cultures, festivals and a lot more! Every moment of living in the dorm is an adventure, with potluck parties, Christmas Secret Santa parties, Halloween parties, Japanese traditional new year shrine visits, and hiding chocolate eggs for Easter.

You never know which ethnic cuisine your dorm mates would recreate together, and which new hidden paradise you all would go and discover!

You study Japanese at school but many other languages at the dorm. My dorm is a truly international home with kind managers and amazing people from literally around the world. Such a mix of cultures helps you experience life beyond borders!

The blog post above is an experience, opinion and thought provided by an individual student.

Apra is based at our Kyoto Kinugasa Campus. Ritsumeikan University provides priority housing to international students without experience at their International Houses.
